Vancouver is an hotelier’s paradise! With so many new hotels under construction, it is hard to keep track! In the downtown core, it is almost impossible to find a street without construction taking place. New developments, refurbishments, up grades we have it all! For an hotelier seeking opportunity, it really doesn’t get better than this. Very few cities have so many new luxury hotels under development and most are opening their doors before 2010. Some major projects under development:

Hotel Georgia, 687 Howe Street, Vancouver


Hotel Georgia a historic landmark built in 1927 and a hotel of choice for many celebrity of the bygone era is currently undergoing extensive renovations and restorations. It will open in 2009 as a boutique 220 room property under the Valencia Group flag and will also have an adjacent 46 storey tower scheduled to open in 2011.

Fairmont Pacific Rim,1011 West Cordova Street, Vancouver

The Fairmont Pacific Rim set across from new convention centre will be completed in 2009. It will be a mixed use complex 44 storeys tall, with the first 25 floors consisting of 415 room luxury hotel.

Loden Hotel, 1177 Melville Street (intersection of Bute), Vancouver



Opening Spring 2008 it has 70 guest rooms and 7 suites in a 15 storey building. It will house an upscale spa and Voya, an 80 seat restaurant and lounge.

Shangri – La Hotel, 1128 West Georgia Street, Vancouver



Opening January 2009, the hotel consists of 119 rooms and occupies the first fifteen floors of a 61 storey mixed use building, the highest in Vancouver. It will house the ‘Chi’ Spa.

Ritz Carlton Hotel, 1133 West Georgia Street, Vancouver


Opening 2011, the 180 room hotel will occupy the first 26 levels of a 58 floor mixed use complex. The tower is triangular in shape and twists gradually with height up to 45 degrees from bottom to top.

Due to some problems with design the development has been put on hold.

Coast Coal Harbour Hotel, 1180 West Hastings

Scheduled to open in the fall of 2009, the 20 storey Coast Coal Harbor will comprise of 220 rooms, 8000 square feet of function space, business centre, gym and a rooftop lap pool and hot tub. Image will be posted soon.

The old ‘Dufferin’ has finally come of age! This historic landmark erected in 1908 has been tastefully refurnished and re branded as the Moda Hotel.  The L’Hermitage, a 60 room boutique hotel set to open it’s doors this summer boasts a prime location at the intersection of Robson and Richards. Housing sixty suites and developed by the Boutique Hotels and Resorts of British Columbia, it is aimed to attract the discerning traveler with its luxurious amenities, four piece baths and petite kitchenettes. The hotel will have an intimate library lounge, club lounge and a fully equipped health club!
